KC certification can be divided into three types: safety certification, safety inspection, supplier compliance inspection. Taking children’s products, electrical appliance and daily necessities as examples.
- Safety Certification: It is for the products with the highest risk, which must pass the product inspection and the factory inspection performed by the Korea designated safety certification body, and obtain the safety certificate.
The below products applicable to Safety Certification:
a. Children’s products: water entertainment equipment; entertainment equipment; vehicle protection devices including child safety seat; children’s toy guns including BB guns;
b. Electrical products: Electric dust cleaner, kitchen electric heating appliance, electric washing machine, hairdressing equipment, general lighting equipment, electric massager, electric blanket, etc.
c. Daily necessities: gas lighter, water entertainment equipment including BB guns, household pressure cooker, pressure cooker
Safety Inspection:The products in the safety inspection range must pass the specified safety inspection and testing. The inspection and testing body should report the result to official designated certification body to obtain a certificate.
The below products applicable to Safety Inspection:
a. Children’s products: Children’s shock cushion, pacifier, protective gear and helmet, children’s skateboard, toys, school supplies, children’s sports protection, children’s heating pad including warm baby, children’s bicycle, infant chair/car, children’s bed, children’s life jacket
b. Electrical products: electric hot water pad, tooth flusher, insect repellent, dishwasher, electric water purifier, dehumidifier, food crusher, TV, display screen, printer, projector, desktop computer, notebook computer, etc.
c. Daily necessities: batteries, digital door locks, skis, skateboards, bike racks (two wheels), blades and shields for portable lawn mowers, etc.
Supplier Compliance Inspection: The products in the Supplier Compliance Inspection rangemust pass the inspection conducted by testing body. Different from safety certification or safety inspection, supplier compliance inspection doesn’t need to report to the designated certification body and has no KC certification number.
The below products applicable to Supplier Compliance Inspection:
a. Children’s products: (clothing, bedding and other anti-woven products for children aged 36-13 years) such as: children’s accessories, children’s furniture, clothing, leather goods, swimming goggles, skis and other children’s products
b. Electrical products: oil press, electric sprayer, hair beater, tooth and bean sprout machine, video camera, tape recorder, surveillance camera, video game machine, scanner, smart phone, etc.
c. Daily necessities: furniture (household drawers and office filing cabinets above 762mm only), roller skates, electric eyelash shaper, eyelid sticker, portable ladder, scooter, etc.
